St. Rose Parish Adult Formation Team

The Adult Formation Team at St. Rose sponsors and coordinates a wide variety of events each year with the intention of fostering continuing Catholic Formation of adults. This year’s events include those listed below. 1. Fall Lecture Series on Social Justice.

All presentations in Sacred Heart Center (St. Rose School cafeteria).

Sunday October 15, 6:30-8pm, “What is Social Justice Anyways, and What Does It Have to Do With Me?” Fr. Thomas Extejt. Refreshments provided by the Adult Formation Team.

Sunday, October 22, 6:30-8pm, “Eating is a Moral Act.” Sister Christine Pratt. Potluck of soup/bread preceding the program provided by Altar Rosary Sodality.

Sunday, October 29, 6:30-8pm, “Capital Punishment.” Mr. Ed Hoover. Refreshments provided by Peace and Justice Committee. Refreshments from Peace and Justice Committee. 874.2455.

Sunday, November 5, 6:30-8pm, “The Belize Experience.” Deacon Paul White, Director of Toledo Diocese Office of Global Concerns. Potluck supper coordinated by Knights of Columbus.

We will be collecting donations of toiletries (paper products, toothpaste, etc.) for the Assumption Outreach Center. Tim Fuerst will coordinate this with JH Youth Group.

2. Celebrate your faith!

Learn more about your Catholic faith in this exciting six-part lecture/discussion series on Monday nights, 6:30-7:45 pm in the Sacred Heart Center (St. Rose school cafeteria). The time is designed to be convenient for parents whose children are in Monday night religion classes, but the program is open to all.

The dates and topics are as follows:

October 2. Why do we need the Church? The Church passes on divine revelation.

November 13. What is the liturgy? The liturgy is the work of the Trinity.

December 4. How does the church pray? The people, places and rites of the liturgy.

January 8. When do we have too much? Possessions, greed and generosity, the 7th and 10th Commandments.

February 5. What is a household of faith? Honoring our parents, the 4th Commandment.

February 26. What is right and wrong and how do we know? Morality and Conscience.

3. Forty Hours Eucharistic Adoration, November 25-27, in St. Rose Church.!

November 25 6-11pm.
November 26 1-4pm, 6-11pm.

4. Bible Study on the Psalms.

Psalms is the only book of the Bible read every Sunday at Mass. Would you like to learn more about it?

Coordinated by Fr. Tom Extejt and the Adult Formation Team, this bible study will feature the "Little Rock Scripture Study on the Psalms" and "Psalms for All Seasons" by John Graghan. Weekly topics will include the Responsorial Psalms, Psalms of Wisdom, Praise and Despair, and Liturgy of the Hours.

Learn the stories behind the Psalms, as well as how to pray with the Psalms!

A children's program also will be offered in the Church basement during Bible Study.
